Angus Fender Racing

Dad decided that I was ready to start racing on the  National stage and we decided to compete in the new X30 Junior Championship which was gathering pace with a large and competitive field of teams and drivers. With this in mind we chose to join a new team - JADE KARTS. We liked Scott & Mark Allen having watched them racing all year. We asked Dean Hale to mentor me and spanner my kart for our Rookie X30 Tour National Series as well as continuing to race in the Whilton Mill regional championship.

In only my first year in Juniors we finished the year in 5th place on the X30 National Tour and so we did well enough to race at Le Mans in the World Final in October with 100 other Juniors from all over the world. The Le Mans circuit was new to me and very different from most UK tracks and I had a lot to learn in only two days practice before the qualifying rounds. After one night time qualifying round followed by two days of heats, I qualified 7th for the final. I held my position well until I got knocked off line with only three corners to go, but I still finished a strong 10th in the World.

I really enjoyed my first year with JADE and instantly performed well within the team. Dean Hale continues to be an awesome mentor and always keeps me on top a of my game.
